Interior Flat Pack Transponder (FPT)

The Interior Flat Pack Transponder is the most popular model of toll transponder, by far. This industry-defining product has been designed for lane-based and open road toll collection and can be mounted in the interior of most cars and trucks. Key features of this product are compatibility with the IAG protocol using active Type II read/write technology. Information is transmitted in 256 bit packets at a nominal rate of 500 kbps operating in the 900 MHz band.

Detailed Specifications: FPT
Applications: ETC Applications; Mobile Commerce; Traffic Management

Exterior Flat Pack Transponder (Exterior FPT)

The Exterior Flat Pack Transponder is physically similar to the Interior FPT but has a conformal coating to protect against exposure to the elements. It has been designed for lane-based and open road toll (ORT) collection and can be mounted on buses, trucks, and motorcycles. Key features of this product are compatibility with the IAG protocol using active Type II read/write technology. Information is transmitted in 256 bit packets at a rate of 500 kbps operating in the 900 MHz band.

Applications: ETC Applications; Mobile Commerce; Traffic Management

Fusion® CVO Transponder

Our Fusion® transponders support IAG and/or TDMA protocols to accommodate users desiring both lane-based or open road toll (ORT) collection and other applications such as weigh station electronic screening. Mounted on the interior of most cars and trucks, Fusion transponders provide "V6" TDMA and optionally, IAG active Type II read/write protocol support. Information is transmitted in either 256 or 512 bit packets at a rate of 500 kbps, depending on the mode of use. Public ID encryption is available for the TDMA protocol and a low battery warning is available, subject to the use of corresponding MARK IV Fusion® Reader equipment. More than one million MARK IV Fusion® transponders have been used for highway speed, open road transactions.

The CVO version of the Fusion® transponder is designed with a buzzer and three LEDs, configured with a signal flashing sequence recommended by the CVO Interoperability Committee of ITS America for use on all North American weigh station bypass, e-screening and CVISN programs, including PrePass Plustm and NORPASS. State run CVISN programs in New York and Maryland also use Fusion® CVO transponders.

Ubiquity® Transponder

Ubiquity® is a technological break-through especially critical to commercial vehicle operators to whom seamless movement among North American toll systems is essential. It is the first tag to include both active and passive (or so-called "backscatter") technologies. It has been independently verified by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, under contract to USDOT, that this tag can be compatible with any or all of:

  • Interagency Group (IAG) E-ZPassSM;
  • PrePass, NORPASS, Green Light and other CVISN weigh station screening systems;
  • Title-21 toll systems throughout California and Colorado; and,
  • The "Sandwich Spec" protocol, which is a purchasing specification for interoperable TDMA transponders, based on a specific implementation of the IEEE 1455 standard, that was proposed by the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide for nationwide CVISN transponder compatibility.

Ubiquity is designed with a buzzer and three LEDs, plus a data port for connection to on-board devices and/or the vehicle data bus (eg J1708 Bus, OBD II, etc).
